You know, I give Christmastime a bad rap. But the season’s got a lot going for it.
Warmth and good cheer, love for fellow man. I can dig it.
The music though. It can get really bad. If it wasn’t bad when you first heard it, it’ll be ruined by a million radio and commercial plays. But Christmas music is so much more than Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and Bing Crosby belting out the frosty ballads.
Being that it’s Christmas Eve and all, I decided to make you guys a playlist of some lesser played soul songs perfect for the Christmas season. Thrill your tasteful guests with Chaka Khan’s silky voice, or mortify your basic relatives with Isaac Hayes singing about mistletoe. Rest assured, you won’t find Alvin or any other Chipmunk acting like a spoiled brat on this playlist.
May the tunes of the season make you feel like kissing somebody. Happy holidays all!
